25 November – Second national survey on centers for men who commit violence (Cuav)
The CNR-Irpps, within the project Viva, published the results of the second national survey on centers for male perpetrators of violence (Cuav).
Over the past five years, the access points on the national territory have doubled, which went from 69 in 2017 to 141 in 2022. The number of men who frequent them increased from 1.264 to 4.174, but the proportion of those who access it spontaneously has decreased, to the advantage of entrances mediated by other territorial services and the penal area.
This last data highlights the importance of the integration of the Cuav within the territorial anti-violence networks, as well as specialized training for operators of general services, who can intercept abusers by promptly sending them to the Cuav, only if they recognize the signs of violence.
The investigation into centers for abusive men represents the second phase of the Viva project (Evaluation and analysis of interventions to prevent and combat violence against women), which since 2017 has carried out studies and research aimed at investigating and evaluating policy measures and intervention practices aimed at preventing and combating this phenomenon.
The news events of recent days reiterate that gender violence is structural and can only be countered and prevented with a profound socio-cultural change. The commitment in this area cannot be limited to November 25th.
They spoke about the investigation:
