2nd WORKSHOP ON CRIS, CERIF AND INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORIES “Integrating Research Information: CRIS+OAR”

Date3 years and 6 months agoViews 0

23 May 2011 09:00 to 24 May 2011 14:00

CNR, “Sala Bisogno”
Piazzale Aldo Moro 7, Rome

Following the successful first workshop in May 2010 at the same location http://www.irpps.cnr.it/it/eventi/workshop-on-cris-cerif-and-institutional-repositories the organizers were persuaded to run a second workshop on this topic.
The outputs of research are gaining increasing importance in the research (and commercial) environments stimulating further research and innovation. It is also becoming more and more important to describe the research context in which results were generated. The overall aim of Europe is to have access to research information without barriers.  Access to research information (projects, all types of results and full content where this is possible) is part of the strategy of the research performing institutions. Also evaluation of research is increasingly dependent on accurate and comprehensive information available in both CRIS and OAR.  Scholarly communication is changing and new models are required.  The ‘fourth paradigm’ of research is gaining importance.The purpose of the workshop is to maintain and stimulate the community interested in both CRIS and repositories, and their metadata, with a view to joint research activity.  The target audience includes among others: Researchers, Research Managers and evaluators, Librarians, Entrepreneurs, Systems Designers and Implementers.Day 1 consists of presentations with discussion. Day 2 will be concerned with discussion topics in groups and preparation of an appropriate white paper leading, hopefully, to joint actions.  To maximise time and facilitate participation we are arranging 3 sub-groups. The outcome of the subgroup discussion will be presented in the plenary session so that the main points of the white paper can be commonly agreed upon.
The subgroups are:

  1. Lessons learned from digital libraries and lessons learned from the development of OAR, CRIS and/or
    integration of OAR and CRIS;
  2. Benefits of integrating OAR and CRIS and promoters of the integrations of OAR/CRIS and beyond;
  3. Challenges for future developments
