The paper “The Economic Impact of Rectal Cancer: A Population-Based Study in Italy” has been recently published on the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. The paper illustrates results of the EPICOST study related to rectal cancer: individual–based data on hospitalizations, outpatient services, drug prescriptions are used for estimating the health care costs due to cancer in various phases of the disease. The study involves 8 Italian population-based cancer registries. Anna Gigli and Silvia Francisci are among the authors.
The study was funded by the Italian Ministry of Health (PROGRAMMA CCM 2014) and by the European Commission (Work Programme 2017, Grant Number 801520 HP-JA-2017 “Innovative Partnership for Action Against Cancer”).
