“LIGHT 2011 - Turn the light on science” is an initiative funded by the European Union as part of the Marie Curie Action “Researchers' Night”. The event aims to bring the public and young people closer to science and technology through the images and attractions brought by researchers: normal people who obtain extraordinary results. LIGHT is conceived as "a cultural transformation event" based on the concept ofedutainment. Interactive activities, demonstrations, direct dialogue with researchers and a general sense of celebration lead visitors to take an interest in science, its practical uses and theoretical foundations, and encourage young people to choose the profession of researcher. LIGHT, now in its fourth edition, had as its 2011 theme "Science and TV fiction" and took place from 17.00 on 23 September to 02.00 the following day at the same time at the Planetarium of Rome, the Botanical Garden of Palermo, the Rocca dei Rectors of Benevento, the Museum of the Present in Rende and Piazza della Libertà in Bari.
