Light: Turn On The Light Of Science 2011
Funding source: European Union/PON-MIUR Research and Competitiveness
“LIGHT 2011 – Turn on the light of science” is an initiative funded by the European Union as part of the Marie Curie Action “Researchers’ Night”. The event aims to bring the public and young people closer to science and technology through images and attractions presented by researchers: ordinary people who achieve extraordinary results. LIGHT is conceived as a “cultural transformation event” based on the concept of edutainment. Interactive activities, demonstrations, direct dialogue with researchers, and a general festive atmosphere lead visitors to take an interest in science, its practical uses, and theoretical foundations, encouraging young people to choose a career in research. LIGHT, now in its fourth edition, had “Science and TV Fiction” as its 2011 theme and took place from 5:00 PM on September 23 until 2:00 AM the following day simultaneously at the Rome Planetarium, the Botanical Garden of Palermo, the Rocca dei Rettori in Benevento, the Museo del Presente in Rende, and Piazza della Libertà in Bari.
