Fabrizio Pecoraro is a researcher at the Italian National Research Council Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (IRPPS-CNR), mainly working in research on health and society. Thanks to his skills in computer engineering, he is part of the medical informatics group where his main research field is the analysis, design and development of information systems in healthcare. He pays particular attention to the issues related to the continuity of care and the integration of primary, secondary and hospital care with social assistance in complex cases. In detail he deals with: 1) use of modelling languages, such as UML and BPMN for the representation of AS-IS and TO-BE business processes; 2) definition of conceptual models for the analysis and description of application domains, behaviour and structure of software systems; 3) logical design and implementation of relational databases and repositories of clinical documents; 4) application of standards for the representation of clinical data such as HL7 and CDISC for the acquisition, exchange, storage and integration of data produced in the healthcare context.
Since 2016 Fabrizio Pecoraro has been responsible for the Health and Society project as well as the research activity of the same name. The aim is to bring together the health skills offered by different IRPPS researchers to analyse health according to a holistic approach that includes the following different points of view and areas: clinical-medical, social, well-being, styles of life, etc. These aspects are analysed while considering information technologies as tools to support social and health integration.
