Pietro Demurtas has taken the Phd in Methodology of Social Sciences at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. His main fields of interest are: Gender, Migration and Social Work Services. With reference to the first one, since 2008 he has carried out research on gender differences both in the public sphere (in political representation and in the labor market) and in private life (studies on the use of time in family life), in order to analyze factors and mechanisms that affect the reproduction and overcoming of gender differences.
In the field of international migration, He has carried out research on the presence and main characteristics of unaccompanied foreign minors in Europe and Italy, as well as issues related to gender-based violence in the context of recent migratory flows. With reference to social assistance services, he has monitored the the offer of social services in the Basilicata Region. More recently, as part of the VIVA project, He has conducting research activities on specialized and general support services for women victims of violence.
His Methodological skills are: Design of qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection; administration of questionnaires and conduction of in-depth interviews; planning, conduction and analysis of focus groups. Regardless of the type of research carried out, be it a field study or a secondary analysis, I also deal with the analysis of data and the drafting of research reports, articles and book chapters.
