Population, Gender and Society (POGES)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0research\u00a0area\u00a0focused\u00a0on the study of social\u00a0inequalities\u00a0and\u00a0processes\u00a0of\u00a0vulnerability\u00a0in\u00a0contemporary\u00a0societies, with\u00a0particular\u00a0attention\u00a0to the\u00a0role\u00a0of gender in shaping social relations, life chances, and access to\u00a0rights.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Adopting\u00a0a gender\u00a0perspective\u00a0allows\u00a0for a\u00a0critical\u00a0analysis\u00a0of social\u00a0stratification\u00a0and of the\u00a0institutional,\u00a0relational, and\u00a0individual\u00a0processes\u00a0through\u00a0which\u00a0gender\u00a0norms\u00a0are\u00a0produced,\u00a0reproduced, and\u00a0transformed,\u00a0influencing\u00a0individual\u00a0life\u00a0trajectories.<\/span><\/p>

From an\u00a0intersectional\u00a0perspective, gender\u00a0is\u00a0examined\u00a0in relation to\u00a0other\u00a0axes\u00a0of\u00a0inequality\u2014such\u00a0as\u00a0social class, age,\u00a0disability, and\u00a0migration\u00a0background\u2014to\u00a0better\u00a0understand\u00a0how\u00a0social\u00a0change\u00a0may\u00a0generate new\u00a0forms\u00a0of\u00a0vulnerability\u00a0or\u00a0reinforce\u00a0existing\u00a0ones,\u00a0while\u00a0also\u00a0opening\u00a0spaces\u00a0for\u00a0renegotiation\u00a0and\u00a0active\u00a0citizenship.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

POGES\u00a0research\u00a0also\u00a0explores\u00a0the interaction\u00a0between\u00a0these\u00a0dynamics and public policies,\u00a0focusing\u00a0on\u00a0how\u00a0institutional\u00a0systems\u00a0regulate\u00a0and\u00a0address\u00a0situations of social risk and\u00a0vulnerability. In\u00a0this\u00a0framework,\u00a0research\u00a0activities\u00a0analyse\u00a0social\u00a0protection\u00a0systems, welfare policies, and\u00a0local\u00a0services, with\u00a0particular\u00a0attention\u00a0to multi-level\u00a0governance, service networks, and policy\u00a0evaluation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
