Abstract:<\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The main objective of HERACLES is to design, validate, and promote responsive systems and solutions for the effective resilience of Cultural Heritage (CH) against the effects of climate change. This is based on the mandatory premise of a holistic, multidisciplinary approach involving various areas of expertise (end-users, industry\/SMEs, scientists, conservators\/restorers, social experts, and decision and policy makers).<\/p>

This will be operationally pursued through the development of a system utilizing an ICT platform capable of collecting and integrating multisource information. The goal is to effectively provide complete and updated situational awareness and support decisions for innovative measurements to improve CH resilience, including new solutions for maintenance and conservation.<\/p>

The effectiveness of HERACLES will be ensured by the design and validation of manageable methodologies, as well as the definition of operational procedures and guidelines for risk mitigation and management. It will be validated in two challenging test beds, which serve as key case studies for the impact of climate change on European CH assets. <\/p>

The strength of HERACLES solutions lies in their flexibility to evaluate a large quantity of diverse information that can be adapted and tailored to the specific needs of CH assets, thereby guaranteeing general applicability. In this context, end-users will play a fundamental role as active participants in the project activities. <\/p>

The HERACLES system will be designed and developed taking into account economic sustainability, future market acceptance, and the social and economic impact on public and local communities, while respecting the integrity of CH and the value it holds for these communities.<\/p>

Effective technological transfer of HERACLES outcomes to large companies, SMEs, and end users, along with suitable dissemination, communication, education, and training activities, are also organized to share the vision and progress achieved with different communities, aiming for broad audience awareness.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
