The CITYCOP project is funded by the European Commission under HORIZON 2020 and has as its primary objective the strengthening of collaboration between local police forces and European citizens. The CITYCoP project specifically aims to develop a mobile application accessible to citizens for direct communication with public security authorities, not only to be informed but also to provide information, thereby contributing to the management of public security and public order. The project will also examine the reasons behind the European Union’s delay in developing apps that connect citizens with local police forces to report problems or crimes. Such use of apps is indeed more advanced in Anglo-Saxon countries (USA, Canada, Australia, and in Europe, the United Kingdom). In addition to this study, the project will also develop a portal and an app that can be reused in various European countries while taking into account privacy regulations and personal data protection. The CITYCoP project benefits from a multidisciplinary approach that combines sociological research with cognitive science research to investigate the mechanisms governing the interaction between citizens and police forces through the use of new technologies. <\/p>

IRPPS CNR contributed to WP13 with comparative research on community policing models and policies in several European and non-European countries.<\/p>

It also collaborated in the scientific organization of the events: “Comparative analysis of community policing policies” Florence, Piazza della Signoria \u2013 Palazzo Vecchio,<\/strong> March 16-17, 2016; CITYCoP Forum “Smart Solutions for Citizen Safety” held in Rome on November 14 and 15, 2016, and will participate in organizing the Project’s final Conference scheduled for 2018.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
