The International Conference of the journal Scuola Democratica<\/strong><\/a> has concluded. Hosted in Cagliari from June 3 to 6, the third edition of the Conference brought together presentations and debates on the link between education and social justice. <\/p>\n\n

CNR \u2013 IRPPS was present with a large group of participants, sharing many of the educational themes that are at the heart of the Institute’s research.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Among the convenors, Stefano Boffo<\/a> moderated the Panel Universities\u2019 Public Engagement and Social Justice<\/a>, where relevant projects and activities in which universities and research institutions have interpreted the so-called Third Mission were discussed; Paolo Landri<\/a> moderated the semi-plenary session and the Panel Educational Futures of Small and Rural Schools<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

In the session Social Inclusion Through Sport and Physical Education<\/strong>, moderated by Luciana Taddei<\/a>, Luciana Taddei, Paolo Landri<\/a>, Anna Milione<\/a>, and Ilaria Primerano<\/a> presented the Baskin<\/strong><\/a> case study as an example of participatory social innovation. Meanwhile, in the context of presentations on challenges and opportunities presented by digital educational environments, Claudia Pennacchiotti<\/a>, Valentina Tudisca<\/a>, and Adriana Valente<\/a> reflected on the inclusion opportunities provided by open educational resources<\/strong> through the experience of the progetto OLA<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Theoretical and epistemological aspects were explored in the presentations by Francesca Cubeddu<\/a>, who examined the importance of the social justice educational approach<\/strong>,<\/a> and by Paolo Landri on Exploring the Social (in)justice of Educational Assemblages<\/a>. The case studies presented by Antonietta Riccardo<\/a> focused on the construction of welfare strategies against exclusion<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

A further line of presentations concerned the link between education,<\/strong> representations, and gender<\/strong>, with contributions from Tatiana Motterle<\/a> and Angela Toffanin<\/a> on the initial results of an ongoing study on European and national policies to combat cyber gender-based violence<\/a>, and with the experiences presented by Sara Marini<\/a> related to the Scosse association and the national Educare alle differenze network, focusing on research and action to counteract gender stereotypes in education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The presentation by Giulia Ciancimino<\/a> investigated perceptions and preferences regarding meritocracy<\/strong><\/a> in Italy and the importance attributed to education as an element of merit, examining trends over recent decades.<\/p>\n\n

Finally, the case study Decide Your Print: A Workshop For Systemic Declination Of Sustainability Literacy<\/a>, presented by Monia Torre<\/a>, provided an opportunity to reflect on possible educational approaches to sustainability<\/strong>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
