Information

Arianna D’Ulizia earned her Degree in Computer Engineering from “La Sapienza” University of Rome in 2005 and her PhD in Computer Science and Automation from Roma Tre University in 2009.
She is currently a researcher at the National Research Council, Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (IRPPS) in Rome.
She participates in the activities of the Social and Computational Informatics research group at IRPPS-CNR. Her research interests include human-computer interaction, particularly natural and multimodal language processing and user-centered interaction design to make ICT technologies more accessible and inclusive. She also works on social computing, specifically smart data analytics techniques for data extracted from social networks to optimize decision-making processes in various social fields (disinformation, healthcare).

She is a member of the doctoral faculty for the “Medium and Mediality” PhD program at eCampus University in Novedrate (CO).

She has authored over 80 papers in international journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters.
Since January 2025, she has served as the CNR-IRPPS scientific coordinator for the SMILE CITY Project funded by the European Commission. Since January 2024, she has been the CNR-IRPPS scientific co-coordinator for the AI4Debunk Project funded by the European Commission. Since 2023, she has been the CNR-IRPPS scientific coordinator for the HealthyW8 Project and co-coordinator for the ForesTEEN Project funded by the European Commission. In 2022, she was the scientific coordinator for the co-creation activities of the SOCIAL4FOOD Project funded by the EIT. From 2005 to the present, she has participated in more than 20 European and national research projects, including DECISO, ATHENA, MARINA, GRRIP, R&I-Peers, HubIT, BioVoices, IC-Health, SHAPES, SciCafé2.0, GreenHero, KNOWING, MIDIR, INCA, IMRA, CHAT, SCENARIO, and WIL.
From 2006 to 2018, she served on the Organizing Committee of various international workshops and conferences, including the “Workshop on Mobile and Networking Technologies for Social Applications (MONET 2006, MONET 2007, MONET 2008, MONET 2009, MONET 2010, MONET 2011“, the “Workshop on SOcial and MObile COmputing for collaborative environments (SOMOCO 2012, SOMOCO 2013)”, the “Workshop on Mobile and Social Computing for interaction environments (MSC 2014, MSC 2015)”, and the “International Conference on Responsible Research and Innovation in Science, Innovation and Society” (RRI-SIS 2017, RRI-ICT 2018).

She is the editor-in-chief of the journal “EAI Endorsed Transactions on Mobile Communications and Applications” and previously served as editor-in-chief of the journal EAI Endorsed Transactions on Cognitive Communications.

She is an associate editor for the journal IEEE Access, for which she received the Outstanding Associate Editors award for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

She is a member of the editorial board for several international journals, including the Journal of Universal Computer Science (J.UCS), Arrays (Elsevier), the International Journal of Applied Logistics (IJAL), and the International Journal of Mobile Computing and Multimedia Communications (IJMCMC).

She is currently a guest editor for the following special issue:

– “The Role of Computer Vision in Facilitating Smart Urban Development: Opportunities and Impedimentsfor the international journal “Applied Sciences”.

She has served as a guest editor for various special issues of international journals, including “Computational and Explainable Artificial Intelligence Approaches for Fact-checking Mis/disinformation for the international journal “Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data”, Intelligent Applications of Human-Computer Interaction for the international journal “Electronics”, Journal of Computing Science and Engineering, Journal of Next Generation Information Technology, Multimedia Tools and Applications, and ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information.

She has been selected as a technical-scientific evaluator for various project proposals submitted to both European and national competitive calls, including PRIN, FCS-H2020 PON, Digital Agenda FRI, Smart Factory Innovation Agreement, and the “Rita Levi Montalcini” Young Researchers program, as well as various European cascade funding calls.

She is involved in numerous program committees for national and international conferences and workshops.
