IRPPS Mission

The Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies is an interdisciplinary research institute that conducts studies on demographic and migration issues, welfare systems and social policies, science, technology and higher education policy, the relationship between science and society, and the creation, access, and dissemination of knowledge and information technologies.

The research activity is structured around three main areas:

  • Study of the relationships between demographic trends and social and economic development;
  • Study of social dynamics and welfare policies;
  • Study of societal change linked to the spread of knowledge and information technologies.

Stretegic Objectives

To make the body of research carried out responsive to the needs of society in its areas of expertise, which include: population dynamics, migration policies and dynamics, social and demographic behaviors, gender studies, welfare, social integration, research, innovation and education policy, science education and public communication, globalization, social informatics and social computing, and e-health. To provide tools and methods of knowledge aimed at applying research results within a broad socio-economic context.
