Salvatore Strozza, born in Formia (LT) on August 22, 1963, has been a Full Professor of Demography at the University of Naples Federico II since 2005. He is the coordinator of the Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (class L-36) and the Master’s degrees in International Relations and Scenario Analysis (LM-52), International Relations (LM-52, English-taught course), and European Political Science and Development Strategies (LM-90). He coordinates the Level I Master’s in Immigration and Public Policies for Reception and Integration, of which he was the promoter. He is a section editor for the journal GENUS, a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal STUDI EMIGRAZIONE/Migration Studies, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the ISMU Initiatives and Studies on Multi-ethnicity Series by FrancoAngeli. He is a research associate at the Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (IRPPS) of the CNR. He is part of the IMISCOE (International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion) network of excellence and the Neodemos expert group. He served first as Vice-President and then as President of the Italian Association for Population Studies (AISP), a section of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS). He is a board member of the Italian Society of Economics, Demography and Statistics (SIEDS).
His main research field concerns international migration and foreign immigration in Italy. In this context, he has addressed the following topics: measurement and estimation of the foreign presence; conducting sample surveys on immigrants; determinants of migration intentions; evolution of international migration affecting European countries; territorial distribution of foreign immigrants and settlement patterns in cities; demographic behavior of migrants and the effects of migration; immigration and labor markets in host countries; the integration process of immigrants: from measurements to determinants; and the educational and labor inclusion of second generations.
In this field, he has provided numerous contributions and developed various collaborations following participation in several national and international research groups. He has taken part in various conferences and scientific meetings and was a keynote speaker at the following events:
• LXVII Scientific Meeting of SIEDS on “A Changing World: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Migration”, held at the University of Milano Bicocca from May 27 to 29, 2010;
• Istat International Conference on “Integration: knowing, measuring, evaluating”, held in Rome on June 17 and 18, 2013;
• International Conference of the Ministry of the Interior on “Towards a European Migration Policy: strategies for multilevel governance of integration”, held in Rome at the CNR on December 17 and 18, 2014;
• 48th Scientific Meeting of the SIS, held at the University of Salerno, June 8-10, 2016.

- “Gli immigrati stranieri in Italy. Quanti sono, chi sono, come vivono?” (Foreign immigrants in Italy. How many are they, who are they, how do they live?) (507 pages), written with Marcello Natale and published by Cacucci Editore, Bari, in 1997;
- “La rilevazione delle migrazioni internazionali e la predisposizione di un sistema informativo sugli stranieri” (The detection of international migration and the preparation of an information system on foreigners) (234 pages), a research report for the Commission for the Guarantee of Statistical Information (CoGIS), prepared in collaboration with Marcello Natale, Enrico Todisco, and Francesca Ballacci, and released in October 2002;
- “Nuovi italiani. I giovani immigrati cambieranno il nostro paese?” (New Italians. Will young immigrants change our country?) (170 pages), written with Gianpiero Dalla Zuanna and Patrizia Farina, published by il Mulino, Bologna, in 2009.
- He has edited, along with other colleagues, three monographic issues of the international journal STUDI EMIGRAZIONE: no. 152, on “Integration of immigrants in Europe: data sources and measurement in old and new receiving countries” (2003); no. 171 on “Immigrants and foreigners in the 2001 census” (2008); no. 202 on “Migration from Central-Eastern Europe to Southern Europe: trends and problems during the crisis years” (2016). He is among the Guest Editors of the Thematic Issue on “The legacy of Corrado Gini in population studies” of the international journal GENUS (vol. LXXI, No. 2-3, 2015).
- He has been the co-editor of 12 volumes published by various publishing houses. In particular, it should be noted that he edited the penultimate (together with A. De Rose) and the latest (together with G. De Santis) Report on Population, published in early 2015 and 2017 by the publishing house il Mulino, Bologna.
