The Institute of Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies of the National Research Council (CNR IMATI), in collaboration with the Italian Statistical Society, as part of the initiatives preceding the 2022 Statistics Festival, is organizing an event on July 5, 2022 entitled:

The event has two main objectives:

• on one hand, it aims to demonstrate, especially to the national statistical community, how CNR develops and applies statistical methodologies that contribute not only to the advancement of knowledge but also, and perhaps above all, to addressing and solving problems and challenges facing our country;
• on the other hand, the event aims to inform the CNR scientific community about the statistical work carried out by their colleagues, while also seeking to foster collaborations and knowledge exchange.

The twelve researchers, at different career levels, have diverse scientific backgrounds and work in different institutes but share in common the use and/or development of statistical methodologies in their research.

The event aims precisely to highlight this commonality of interests despite the diversity and, hopefully, to foster future collaborations as well as greater awareness of the activities carried out by CNR researchers (with the collaboration of all staff) in service of the country.

Antonio Tintori has been appointed president of the Single Guarantee Committee of the National Research Council by decree of the Director General, following the publication of a call for expressions of interest for the role.

A former member of the CUG, he succeeds Giovanna Acampora, who had held the position since February 19, 2020. A sociologist with a PhD in economic geography, he is a researcher and coordinator of the Social Changes, Evaluation and Methods (MUSA) research group at the Cnr Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies, and a former professor of social science methodology at ‘La Sapienza’ University of Rome. His research activity is particularly focused on the psychosocial analysis of the attitudes and behaviors of population groups, with specific reference to youth and gender in relation to interaction and integration, deviance, and social conditioning.
