Curriculum Vitae


Gennaro Clemente, Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and Specialized in Liver and Replacement Diseases at the same University, since 1992 he has been a CNR researcher in the Human Nutrition and Metabolism Section at the ISA of Avellino until 2011, then at the separate unit of the IRPPS of Fisciano (SA).

He was a member of the Study and Research Center of the Medical Diabetes Association (AMD) and National Councilor of the AMD Foundation.

Since 2012 he has been Adjunct Professor of Nutrition Physiology in the Master's Degree Course in Human Nutrition at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the “Federico II” University of Naples.
National Coordinator of the Diabetes and Oncology Group of the Association of Diabetes Doctors (AMD), member of the national group Annals of AMD and consultant of the intercompany group AMD - AIOM "Diabetes and Tumors".
Project manager: “Effectiveness on the main cardiovascular risk factors of an intensive educational intervention aimed at promoting the Mediterranean food model among the employees of FCA Italia SpA”, in collaboration with the University of Naples “Federico II”.

He has dealt with nutritional epidemiology with particular reference to the relationships between diet and cardiovascular disease in women (FATA Project), as well as the evaluation of the mechanisms of action of water-soluble fibers on the gastric emptying speed with ultrasound method and the influences that emptying exercises on glyco-lipid metabolism in healthy subjects suffering from Diabetes Mellitus Type I and 2. He attended courses in Epidemiology and Statistics at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

He was a visiting researcher at the Department of Chronic Diseases and Environmental Epidemiology of the Dutch National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM) in Bilthoven (Netherland) where he worked on the relationship between the consumption of saturated fatty acids and the development of reduced tolerance to glucose and / or diabetes, under the supervision of Dr. Edith Feskens.
