Services and Contacts
The study and research activities of IRPPS are specialized in many topics including socio-demographic issues and the sociology of knowledge, with thematic study areas related to immigration, gender studies, family and welfare, social change linked to the dissemination of knowledge and information technologies, and are supported by its Library.
The bibliographic collection consists of publications from major national and international statistical organizations, a selection of important scientific journals, and approximately 7,000 volumes on demography, statistics, and sociology, all complemented by a specialized bibliographic collection on innovation and social policy topics, with particular reference to welfare and education issues.
The Library provides access to electronic resources acquired centrally by the CNR library system and to those acquired locally by the Library. The Library participates in the National Union Catalogue of Serials (ACNP); collaborates in CNR initiatives for consortial acquisitions of electronic journals, ebooks, and databases, and with the Universities of Rome "La Sapienza" and "Tor Vergata" for internships and training programs for students with degrees in Library Science. The IRPPS Library embraces the principles of "OPEN SCIENCE" or open science, promotes initiatives for the dissemination of open access electronic publishing, and conducts research activities in the management, archiving, and dissemination of research data.
Consultation and Loan
Users (external and internal) may access and consult the material held in the Library.
The loan service is available only to internal users (IRPPS staff, graduate students supervised by said staff, doctoral candidates, postgraduate students, contractors, collaborators).
A photocopier is available inside the Library for users to make copies personally in compliance with copyright law (Law No. 248 of August 18, 2000, Article 2, regarding "New provisions for the protection of copyright").
Document Delivery
For internal users
A document retrieval service is available for materials not held by the Library and available at other libraries participating in the National Library System (SBN) and the National Union Catalogue of Serials (ACNP). Requests may be sent by email to biblio.irpps@irpps.cnr.it
For Libraries
An article request service is available. The Library provides copies of documents to university libraries and institutions belonging to public, private, and research entities. The service is provided free of charge and on the basis of reciprocal exchange agreements. Requests may be sent by email to biblio.irpps@irpps.cnr.it
