Sociologist, his main research interests concern the integration of the immigrant population, with particular reference to the labor dimension and migration policies. In recent years, research work has been focused on the intertwining of EU entry policies and regional integration in the Mediterranean basin. Investigating, in the first instance, the effects of the response given by the countries of the European Union to the needs of managing migratory flows in the development and intensification of regional integration processes in the Mediterranean. Particular attention has been given to the immigration issue. In addition, the issue of the so-called refugee crisis of the summer of 2015 and its impact on the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) was addressed. Alongside the social and political analysis of immigration, Italian emigration and emigration policies were also addressed. Analysis also conducted according to the methodologies of historical sociology.
