The research activity – scenario planning – concerns the definition of a scenario for blood donation in Italy up to 2027. The research objectives are: identification of organizational, communication, and regulatory interventions aimed at establishing blood donation as a widespread social practice at the national level; promotion of AVIS’s role as the reference association for blood donation in Italy. The scenario will address the following themes: raising awareness among the general population and specific population groups about the importance of blood donation; strengthening regular donation; promoting the use of innovative technologies; donor retention; supporting organizational flexibility of the donation system/process; supporting the medium- to long-term sustainability of AVIS, and the effectiveness and efficiency of its services; enhancing clinical monitoring of the population for disease prevention through the AVIS donation system; standardization and strengthening of regional AVIS procedures. The study will be conducted using the CNR-IRPPS Policy Delphi methodology.
