THE GLOBAL SCIENCE OPERA LEVERAGE STUDENTS PARTICIPATION AND ENGAGEMENT IN SCIENCE THROUGH ART PRACTICES (GSO4SCHOOL)

GSO4SCHOOL is a three-year Erasmus+ project (2019-2022) that aims to create a network of students and teachers to work together in an interdisciplinary manner on science and art topics and is based on the Global Science Opera initiative.

Students from the different countries involved – Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal – will be invited to collaborate to create two musical works on scientific topics, starting from subjects in the school curriculum.

They will go through all the development stages of an opera or large-scale theatrical production, which will require them to be innovative, exchange ideas and develop transversal skills such as entrepreneurial ability, teamwork, communication skills, while at the same time gaining greater familiarity with scientific concepts.

In promoting collaboration among different social actors (teachers, students, young researchers, artists, creative industry), the project will train the teachers involved through the use of materials that will help them develop transversal skills for science education and arts education through the implementation of three summer schools.

GSO4SCHOOL will be among the promoters of Officina 2020, which will be held in May 2020.
