Health and society

The general objective of the project is to analyze health through a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses its various components: clinical-medical, epidemiological, social, well-being, lifestyles, etc. These aspects are also analyzed by considering Information Technologies as tools to support social and health integration. The project brings together the various expertise of IRPPS regarding the theme of health, understood as a complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being. In particular, it will focus on:

· Epidemiological analysis of the impact of tumors in industrialized countries, with particular reference to changes in risk factors, diagnostic procedures, surgical and pharmaceutical treatments, and population aging;

· Study of the relationships between nutrition and disabling chronic-degenerative diseases, to define a dietary model more suitable for maintaining good health, particularly for the implementation of a healthy lifestyle in the workplace;

· Application of the narrative medicine approach—a clinical-care intervention methodology based on specific communicative competence—to identify a model oriented toward reducing waste, consolidating the doctor-patient relationship, and coordinating internal facility processes;

· Sociological study of life practices that determine the well-being of citizens, focusing on people’s living conditions and health determinants;

· Development of information systems in the clinical field with particular reference to: business process modeling, development of conceptual models based on clinical data standards, and evaluation of the quality of care.
